Nelson Paul Sampson was born to Artrette and Jacob Sampson August 28, 2004. He was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and a proud descendant of the Nez Perce and Swinomish Tribes. He was proud of every nationality which he came from. During his younger years he enjoyed playing football for the Nimiipuu Warriors coached by his uncle Tui, playing dinosaurs, tech deck and putting together Halo Legos with his first BFF Harrison and nephew Kyle.
During his elementary years he joined the Tropics AAU basketball team where he developed a lifelong bond with his boys/bros, traveling to tournaments throughout the northwest and beyond. Nelson also played basketball and baseball for the Lapwai Wildcats. He loved to skateboard, collecting, working on and painting many boards over the years. Nelson had a passion for attending and playing stick games and attending the annual Mud Springs Encampment Days. He also loved traveling to the West Coast to visit family.
Nelson got his first kill July of 2018. It was at this ceremony where he was allowed to join his brothers and his bonus dad/mentor on the seven drum line which he was honored.
On June 30, 2019 his heart was stolen by Racquel Broncheau. They were unified for eternity on June 30, 2024. For 5 years they enjoyed attending concerts, fairs and festivals of their favorite artists.
Nelson enjoyed music from all genres and eras. He was a total family man. Cooking and caring for his sister’s siblings when they joined our home. He loved decorating the house inside and out for birthdays and holidays. He enjoyed taking care of his fur babies and doing whatever was asked of him for his grandparents, aunties and mom’s friends.
He was handy with tools and could fix just about anything. He was a very meticulous perfectionist.
When he was younger he was asked what he wanted to be when he grows up. His response was, “I just want to be Nelson”. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Racquel Sampson, mother Artrette Sampson, sisters Montoya Pablo, Ellanor Pablo, Rachelle Broncheau, Raylyn Broncheau, brothers Dallas Broncheau, father in law KC Broncheau, grandmothers Deborah TwoHatchet and Shirley Hart, grandfather Spencer TwoHatchet, uncle Tui Moliga, Martin Sampson, Alfonso Sampson, Bill Keo, Reuben Garcia, Aunts Claymecia Everett, Taricia Moliga, Trina Sampson, Ursula Sampson, Abrianna Sampson, cousins/brothers/sisters Tui II, Talisau Moliga, Soa Moliga, Deborah Everett, Deachon Everett, Nicqoi Everett, Jaiden Coomer, bonus parent Andre and Maggie Picard, Mark and Rose Souza, all of his Bros/Boys and all of those who knew and loved him.
