Boise, Idaho – Passionate advocate and community leader, tai simpson (she/they) Niimiipu nation of Idaho and Black, was selected to join The Allstate Foundation Nonprofit Leadership Center Executive Leadership Program’s Class of 2025. The prestigious program helps top nonprofit leaders develop and hone the skills and knowledge to drive systemic change and enhance community impact.
The highly competitive application process had 580 nonprofit professionals apply for the program this year. From those 580 applicants only 30 leaders were chosen whose body of work represents a diverse range of organizations, roles, locations, experiences, and perspectives. tai’s selection is a testament to her dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to social justice and community empowerment.
tai simpson is renowned for her healing-centered liberation philosophy and unyielding determination to overcome oppression. She serves the community in multiple capacities, including as Co-Stewarding Executive Director at the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, founder and organizer of Indigenous Idaho Alliance, and chairperson for the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center.
In her ancestral Nimiipuu language, tai is known as “The Storyteller,” a title that reflects her profound ability to connect through spirited storytelling and her commitment to preserving Indigenous traditions. tai’s powerful TEDxBoise talk in 2019 highlighted the importance of revitalizing Indigenous “old ways” to challenge harmful social norms affecting Black and Indigenous communities.
The Allstate Foundation Nonprofit Leadership Center empowers nonprofit leaders by investing in the people who are closest to the issues and at the forefront of influencing change. Since 2014, the Center has partnered with experts from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management’s Center for Nonprofit Management to offer professional development programs, all provided at no cost to the participants or their organizations. Over 39,000 nonprofit leaders have refined their skills through these programs, working to improve the communities they serve.
Designed for nonprofit professionals with more than 10 years of experience, the program offers rigorous academic instruction, executive coaching, and peer-led learning in an immersive and collaborative environment. Key learning areas include impact measurement, board governance, fundraising, diversity, equity, inclusion, and more.
