Alex “Bones” Charles Williams

Alex Williams was born on September 26th, 1949, to Genevieve “Penny” Switzler and Kenneth Williams. Alex crossed over peacefully on May 21st, 2024, at home with his devoted wife Joyce Williams and granddaughter Tearra Brown by his side.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, sisters Wilma Williams, Venita Scott, Terri Calfrobe, Tia Williams, Virginia Jones, Maria Ellenwood, Lisa Miller, Brother Chico Williams, daughters Angela Williams, Joni Williams, Lawney Williams, son Alex Williams Jr., his stepdaughter Salina Brown, stepson Bill Magboo, his grandchildren Karleen Williamson, Christopher Magboo, Tyler Williams, Sean Alvarez, Juan Alvarez, Solana Pablo, Jackson Pablo, Christian Brown, Tearra Brown, Nalani Frank, Jalani Kidd, Sam Silver, Bryce Morrell, Kanin Morrell, David Morrell, Layson Morrell and his great grandsons Quanah Wheeler Jr, and Jasper Lewis Williamson. Great nieces Krystal Campbell and Kallee Williams.

He was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve “Penny” Switzler, Father Kenneth Williams, Stepfather Don Jones, his brothers Dwight Williams and Kenneth Williams Jr, Titus Williams, his stepson Orlando Magboo, his daughter Stephanie Williams-Silver and granddaughter Cecilia Frances Alvarez.

He is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and is a descendent of the Nez Perce Tribe and Assiniboine Sioux.

Alex was a loving, husband, father, grandfather. He loved his grandchildren and cherished spending time with his family. He was a lifelong fan of basketball, golf and particularly enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren the art of making traditional regalia, sharing his knowledge of the Umatilla and Nez Perce cultures.

Before his passing he was happily retired in Lapwai, ID with his wife Joyce where they built a loving and supportive home. His wife and grandchildren him brought him so much joy, he would light up when they would come to visit and would spend time sharing stories of his childhood.

A celebration of life will be held on May 26th at 11:00am at the Pi-nee-waus Community Center in Lapwai, ID.
