Regina S. White Eagle passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 in Kamiah, ID.
Regina, “Gina” as she was fondly called, was born on October 21, 1954 in Orofino, Idaho, to Thomas and Adeline Samuels. Gina attended school in Ahsahka. She later went to school in Orofino.
She met the love of her life; George White Eagle and they were together for 48 years.
In her earlier years, Gina worked for the Orofino Convalescent Center. She also worked for Tribal Housing for a couple years.
Gina and George moved to Kamiah, Idaho, where Gina started working for the Itseyeye Casino as a surveillance worker. Gina worked there for about 15 years and made many friends there. Gina retired from there about two years ago.
Gina was a very good fisherwoman. Gina caught her first and only steelhead in the North Fork river by the house in Ahsahka. She known as “Jiggin Gina”. Her pastime was going to casinos and was a very avid bingo player.
Gina dearly loved her nephews and nieces. They took into their home many nieces and nephews. Her and George would take them on trips to Seattle and other places. They loved driving them around the reservation just to be outside in the open country. The nephews and nieces remember Gina playing games for money with them. She would always win their money. They would never give up when Gina kept winning their money.
Gina was the sister with all the humor. She would tell funny quips and stories that made us laugh. She was rarely without something funny to say. She liked to tease the younger kids and they thought she was so much fun to be around. The family will never forget her humor and we will miss her terribly.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Adeline Samuels, three brothers, Tommy, Butch and Mike, and several aunts and uncles. Gina is survived by her husband, George White Eagle of Kamiah. She is also survived by four sisters, Barbara (Carl) Vulgamore, Lewiston; Gloria Johnson, Orofino, Ethel (Pete) Hill of Boise, and Chris Nahsonhoya of Ahsahka. She leaves behind many nephews and nieces, cousins, and great friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 12 at the Nez Perce Presbyterian Church in Ahsahka, Idaho. Burial will be at the Tribal cemetery in Ahsahka. Dinner to follow after the services at the Teweepuu Center. Head cooks will be Amanda Lopez and Amanda Samuels.
