Otto Mark Homan Broncheau, a member of the Nez Perce Tribe, passed away peacefully at Orchard View Nursing Home early around 4:30 am July 9, 2025 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Mark was blessed with 80 years of life. Born in Lewiston,Idaho on September 17,1944 to Ada Rogers and Otto Homan.
He and three of his bother’s were sent to Desmet, Idaho Boarding School. He later went to live with a foster family Joe and Josephine LeFebvre in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Where he attended and graduated from Bonner’s Ferry High School in 1962.
Before graduation he was being taught and trained by one of his foster brother’s Tom Le Fevber to box. He tried out for the National Boxing Olympics but ended up in the
National Guard.
In 1964-65 In the summer he met Candy Brazier at many events together. On June 11, 1966 they were married at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. They then moved to Spokane, Wa. where Uncle Mark worked in construction on the Metaline Dam. Mark then got an offer to work in Ketchikan, Alaska.
In 1967, Mark and Candy moved back to the States and lived in Auburn, Wa. Where they were blessed with his only son Waco James Homan was born February 3, 1968. In March, Waco was baptized in Auburn with his Uncle Daniel Broncheau as his Godfather.
Mark and Candy later divorced in 1970. During this time Uncle went on to build
Seattle First National Bank and the Space Needle. Where he met Aunty Linda Cultee Standing Elk in 1991.Uncle Mark worked for the Nez Perce Tribe Tero and was sent off to work with the Skokomish Tribe, Quinault Tribe, and S’Klallam Tribe. Uncle and Aunty were together for over 22 years they moved to Delhart Texas for two years, then back to Lapwai for a short time making their home near Ocean Shores in Moclips, Wa. Mark helped raise Linda’s boys Gene Mireau, Travis Prest, Marlon and Emery Mount. They later separated in 2010, remaining family and friends always.
His Hobbies included hunting, fishing, foraging for mushrooms and berries and his absolute favorite hobby was watching the ponies and rodeoing.
Uncle was preceded in death by his three older brothers Willard Nanpooya, Kenneth Sonneck, Dan Broncheau Jr. and his mother Ada Rogers.
Mark is survived by his sisters DeeAnna Klotzbuecher of Wenatchee, WA. and Charlotte
Fitch of Spokane, WA.; His only son Waco James Freeman of Spokane Valley, WA. His numerous nieces/nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
The family of Mark would like to thank everyone whom helped make Uncle’s services possible. And thank you to our tribal community from Senior Citizen’s Housing,Social
Services, Veteran’s Dept.and the kindness of Orchard View Facility staff and residents. Special thanks to Larry Greene and Paul Sherwood for driving our Uncle around to appointments and just making time for conversation, smokes, and coffee time.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday July 15, 2025 at 10:00AM at the Methodist Church in Lapwai. A lunch will follow, Lydia Wheeler is the Head Cook.
