Jeri Kay Seyler-Newhouse, 62, of Clarkston, Washington passed away peacefully with her grandbabies by her side on January 10th, 2024, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho.
Jeri was born October 14th, 1961, to Robert (Bob) and Carol (Myrna) Seyler at Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston, Washington and was an enrolled member of the Colville Tribe. Jeri attended school around the area, but ended up earning her G.E.D. Through Jeri was not focused on a working career, she did receive training from the Nez Perce Tribe for the Women’s Carpentry program and worked with that program for a few years before moving to the Lewis-Clark area in the late 1980’s with her boyfriend, Dwayne Peterson, they later separated, and Jeri and their daughter continued to live in the Lewis-Clark area up until the mid-2000’s. Jeri has called many places home, including Spokane and other cities in Washington, Montana, and Oregon. Jeri married once, to Pete Newhouse in the early 90’s but separated 2 years later. She then met Michael Strawn in August of 2006 and they had a long, beautiful relationship where they love traveling and camping.
Jeri had a free happy soul and followed her own heart; she loved family gatherings, traveling, watching her daughter play softball, Ford Bronco’s with a bumping system, hanging out and playing zilch with her lifelong friends (whom she called brother or sister), coloring, and being creative. She had this energy all her life and was always unapologetically herself but her greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jeri is survived by her daughter LaDonna Peterson of Clarkston, Granddaughter Sabrina Barrington of Clarkston, Grandson Robert (Bobby) Gabrielson of Lewiston, Granddaughter Melanie Lara of Pomeroy, Uncle Kenney Bourgeau of Colville, Auntie Joanne Taylor of Lapwai, Auntie Darlene Reuben of Spokane, Auntie Kaye Sobotta of Hermiston, Auntie Marie (Bumpsy) Taylor of Lapwai, Auntie Denise Taylor of Albuquerque and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Bob and Myrna Seyler, Maternal and Paternal Grandparents; Uncle Larry (Butch) Taylor, Uncle Gale (Joe) Taylor, Uncle Theodore (Ted) Taylor, Auntie June Paine, Cousin Michael (Mike) Taylor, Cousin Robbie Paine, Cousin Darryl Paine and Nephew Michael Taylor, Jr.
The family would like to thank all those who knew and loved her and hope you can join them on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, to celebrate her beautiful life; 1 PM Tribal Cemetery to bury her cremated remains and dinner to follow at the Pi-Nee-Waus Community Center in Lapwai, ID.
