The Nez Perce Tribe Vocational Rehabilitation Services hosted Work Together Heal Together on September 22, 2025, at the Clearwater River Casino Event Center, welcoming community members for a full day of learning, healing, and cultural connection.
Facilitators Chance Rush and Rudy Indigenous guided the day with presentations and dialogue that promoted personal wellness and community resilience. After morning registration, breakfast, and an opening blessing, participants moved through icebreakers and a series of discussions designed to inform and inspire.
A highlight of the morning was the Career Pathways panel from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m., where representatives from TERO (Tribal Employment Rights Office) and TYAP shared opportunities in labor trades. They described programs that help students gain hands-on experience and underscored that participants can earn up to $35 per hour in summer positions while pursuing their college education, making trade careers both a practical and lucrative path.
Later sessions explored entrepreneurship and self-employment with Stacia Morfin and Julianna Kickingwoman, followed by a discussion led by the Hineewi Young Adult Support Group, which offered valuable youth perspectives. The agenda included ample networking time and shared meals, and the evening session featured a focused conversation on IEP/504 plans to help parents and students strengthen their education and advocacy efforts.
By the end of the event, attendees left encouraged and connected, having shared a meaningful and fun experience grounded in Nez Perce culture and community wellness.
