CRITFC Elects Ashton Picard as Chairman

On July 24, the CRITFC (Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission) held its annual officer rotation at the Clearwater River Casino.

Ashton Picard, Vice-Chairman of NPTEC (Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee), was elected as the new 2025-2026 Chairman of CRITFC. Delegates from Warm Springs, Yakama, Umatilla, CRITFC Staff, and NPTEC members were present at this meeting.

Picard took an oath to carry out the office of Chair at CRITFC, support the sovereignty of tribes, strive for a unified tribal voice in the management of Columbia River fisheries, and protect each tribe’s treaty-reserved right to fish in all of their usual and accustomed places, for the benefit of current and future generations.

Picard expressed gratitude for this opportunity and for everyone in attendance. He is looking forward to how their collective efforts will benefit the fish and the fishermen.

Congratulations to Chairman Picard on his appointment.
