September 17, 2025 – The Way of the Masks, a two-week campaign held in September, has been hosting events throughout the Pacific Northwest, including a stop at Chief Lookingglass Park in Asotin, Washington, to meet with local and tribal leaders.
This campaign aims to bring attention to the emergent and urgent threats of the Trump Administration to indigenous lands, waters, forests, and lifeways in the Pacific Northwest.
The Way of the Masks is dedicated to, and honors, our ancestral Indigenous knowledge that all things are related to, and through, Xaalh: a sacred trust with the balance of life. The Indigenous Salmon Nations from Alaska to northern California understand that our salmon relatives (scha’enexw) are also forest animals.
Now more than ever, it’s time to center the voices, knowledge, and perspectives of Native Nations and Indigenous communities, who are leading the movement to protect our natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
