Francis Bokinskie

Frances Bokinskie of Long Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, at the age of 91, at The Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She spent the last two

weeks of her life surrounded by friends and family. Frances was born on January 29, 1934 in Cherokee, N.C. To Frank and Phoebe Corbett. Frances was of Choctaw Nez Perce

ancestry and an enrolled Tribal member of the Nez Perce Tribe. Fran graduated from Fort Yates High school, South Dakota and went on To earn her Bachelor’s degree at Concordia College,

Moorhead in 1956. After college graduation, Fran worked as an Art teacher at the Home school in Sauk Centre, Minnesota and met her husband Louis Bokinskie. They later divorced but were blessed with 4 children, Pamela, of Sauk Centre, Laura of Minneapolis, Daniel

of St Cloud, and Katherine Barbour (Timothy) of Pasco, WA. Frances was also fortunate to have two grandchildren, Melanie Popehn (Justin) of Sartell, and Abbie Kline (Michael) of Lino Lakes. Frances was also thrilled to have a great grandson,

Brooks Popehn. Fran loved helping others and spent several years working with disabled young adults through Project together. She was also a very avid reader and would share books with book clubs and became lifelong friends with many of the members. Fran was a

member of the Methodist Church in Long Prairie. She was proceeded in Death by by her parents, Phoebe and Frank, her siblings Dr. Cecil Corbett, sister Lydia Angle, and her infant son James. There will be a celebration of life at a later time in Long Prairie, and Frances will be buried in Kamiah,

Idaho alongside her parents and siblings.
