Vernon R. “Scotty” Scott

Vernon Ray “Scotty” Scott, age 65, of Council Bluffs, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Omaha.

Scotty was born January 19, 1961, in Grangeville, Idaho, to the late Jack J. and Jeanette (Edwards) Scott. He graduated from Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson High School in 1979 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1979-1983. Scotty worked as a supervisor and heavy equipment operator for R.D. Blue Construction, Leazenby Construction and most recently Compass Utility retiring in 2023. He was a proud member of AA and an avid fan of the KC Chiefs, KC Royals and NASCAR.

In addition to his parents, Scotty was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Scott in 1981, and his wife, Mary Scott in 2013.

 Scotty is survived by his brother, Louis (Diana) Scott, (sons, Jacob and Jonathan Scott), nephews, Jason (Jessica) Scott, Richard Glancy, nieces, Jessica Freeman, and Timine Hummel.

Memorial visitation, Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. with sharing of memories at 6:00 p.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Military rites will follow tendered by the Kanesville Riders Honor Guard. The family will direct memorial contributions.
